Pre-School - Preparing For School Life
THE PRE-SCHOOL SETTING
Our Pre-School rooms are fun and stimulating environments where our children learn through a combination of free-play and guided activities whilst we simultaneously prepare them for the transition to 'big school'.
THE IMPORTANCE OF LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Every child at Lilliput is treated individually - There is a focus on following the children's choices and interests, enabling them to learn through play. There is no one way to achieve the very best for young children and what works for one may not work for another. Play in pre-school therefore provides natural, imaginative and motivating contexts for our children to learn more about themselves, their friends and the world around them.
BUILDING CONFIDENCE & SOCIAL SKILLS
Within the Pre-School rooms there is a focus on preparing your child for the transition to school and the classroom environment. Throughout the year we work closely with each child and family in building self-confidence, independence and self-help skills as well as the social and emotional skills required for a smooth transition to Reception class. Areas of group time learning include writing, reading, maths, science, the world and communities. The children put on a winter play for their parents at the Christmas Party. In summer the Family Fun Day is an exciting event with a fancy dress theme and various races in the Vauxmead Field.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
Our chefs provide healthy homemade food every day, catering for all of our children's' dietary needs. We support parents with their food preferences by offering a number of alternatives through which parents can influence their child's daily food.
