Community Weeks
Pre-School children learnt lots when they met the local Librarian, St Johns Ambulance, Fire fighters and Policemen.

They thoroughly enjoyed a visit from Mary, one of the librarians in Walton, where they listened to stories and joined in with song time. They were also very lucky to receive colouring pencils, a colouring book and badge each. We are all looking forward to another visit in November!
With St Johns Ambulance, the children had lots of fun trying on bandages, slings and eye patches, and of course exploring the Ambulance.

Children enjoyed looking and sitting in the Police car, and giggled when the sirens were turned on. They learnt about stranger danger and how important it is to stay close to their parents. They also got to see the walkie talkies and a member of staff even got to try on the handcuffs!
All of Pre-School enjoyed the visit from the Firemen, sitting in the fire engine and getting a chance to squirt water from the hose connected to the Fire Engine.
Remember some children have severe allergies
Lilliput is strictly a nut free Nursery and we make every effort to check all ingredients used in our menus. This includes children’s cooking activities and messy play. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any cakes into the Nursery, as both homemade or shop bought cakes cannot be assured as 100% nut free. Also consider this when bringing in junk boxes, tubes etc for use by the children for art projects. Please make sure they did not originally contain nuts.
Bookings
If you are wanting to add/change days or give your months notice to move on from Lilliput, please remember to email Melanie@lilliput.org.uk. All requests must be in writing.
We always aim to help with requests for extra days, but it is increasingly difficult on certain days. Please email your request as early as possible. Thank you!
Harvest Festival
Thank you to all parents and their families who have donated to this years Harvest Festival. All boxes have now been donated to the Hersham Day Centre, which they were delighted to receive.
Nursery Two

Children were delighted to take part in messy activity role-play. They mixed corn, pasta, and krispies using forks, spoons and their hands. They explored how each material felt, learnt the difference between the 3 textures, and the sound they made. Some children selected pasta and organised it into bowls and pretended they were cooking lunch for their friends, dishing it up on plates.
Family Fun Day 2011!
This years Family Fun Day was a great success with a 'Space' theme. All children were dressed up and we saw many budding astronauts, as well as planets, stars, aliens and rockets. All members of staff also got dressed up. It was great to see everyone making a real effort and looking fantastic.
The races were a huge hit again this year, with some dad's getting quite competitive...no names mentioned! With the help of many donations from various local and national companies, our Silent Auction was a massive triumph. With your generosity and funds raised from the sales of t-towels, raffles, tombolas, lucky dips etc, we raised £3,452.88 for the Paediatric Unit at St Peters Hospital. This money has gone towards some much needed syringe drivers to give the babies on the unit their tiny doses of medicine. Thank you once again to everyone for your continued support!

Weather Changes
As the weather is now changing and Autumn is upon us, please can you make sure your child/ren have adequate outdoor clothing so they can still enjoy their time outside when it is not raining.

Welcome Back!
We would like to say a huge welcome back to Jo Johnson our Deputy Manager, who has recently returned from maternity leave. When you can’t find Melanie, Jo’s always available to discuss any booking queries or requests you may have.
Swimming

We have had another successful swimming year with our qualified A.S.A instructor Jenny Snow, with many children aged 3 and over earning their Duckling and Puffin badges. One child even received his Rainbow badge for 5 metres. Well done Samuel Smith!
Younger children aged over 2 have also had fun in the pool with the nursery nurses from their room, weather permitting! As well as being shown how to kick their legs and move their arms when swimming, they also got the opportunity to have fun and jump in whilst holding hands!
Nursery One

Children in Nursery One have been dancing! They have had parties for their friends and enjoyed moving their bodies in all directions, as well as pointing out the different coloured balloons hanging in the room. They have also been practicing the ‘Time Warp’ in preparation for their Halloween and Diwali party on Friday 28th October.
Pink Room

Pink One made the most of the last bit of sunshine and hot weather we had recently. They relaxed and enjoyed the fresh air in the garden. They managed to stay cool in the 26º October heat by splashing around in the water and having lots of fun with each other, developing their social skills.
Growing Our Own!

This year we have been growing many types of vegetables in the gardens including cucumbers, tomatoes and herbs. Many of the children as young as Pink Two have taken an interest and have helped water and nurture them daily. They have been excited by finding and eating the results.
Baby Room
Babies very much enjoy their outdoor surroundings and love to explore the large equipment. The little slides and the sea-saw are among their favourites, enhancing their physical development.
They love singing and pointing to objects around them.
We see the children growing in confidence daily, whilst discovering the great outdoors. The large space around them means they can push and pull objects, as well as react to new sounds they hear e.g. planes, birds, traffic etc.
Afternoon Classes
These started again in September with Helen Morris and Jackie Trigg, and are proving to be popular once again. If you are interested in putting your child forward for either sports skills, music and movement or ballet, it is still not too late.
These are booked termly, and this term finishes w/c 12th December.
Safeguarding
It is extremely important that ALL parents read the notices around the nursery and PLEASE DO NOT LET IN ANYONE THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW. Please make sure staff are always aware if there is any other person collecting your child/ren and we have written authorisation. Please also remember to inform us about any changes to the authorised people collecting your children.
If you do not know the person in front or behind you, ask them to use the intercom and buzz the office. We aim to work very hard on achieving the safest possible environment for every child. Please help us to do so.
Cooking
Children have had lots of fun recently making a variety of food. Pink 2 children were helping to stir cake mixture and put it in cupcake cases.

Yellow room made fresh homemade smoothies using a variety of fruit. Each child was asked which fruit they would like, then they learnt about the shape, colour, texture and smell. They counted to 5 whilst the fruit was blended, then enjoyed tasting their yummy smoothies. They were delicious!

Other children have been busy making muffins for birthdays and rice krispie cakes. They have learnt how to spoon the mixture in the cases completely independently.

Please remember to put ALL cheques in the grey box after the inner white door, on the right hand side.
We are good! You can read our Ofsted report at www.ofsted.gov.uk.
